How to use
- Enter one choice per line, or choose an example list.
- Click "Spin" or tap the wheel. The result pops up when the wheel stops.
- Click "Spin again" for another result. Check "Remove each choice after it's picked" if you don't want repeats.
How weights work
Each choice uses a weight of 1 unless you add a number after an asterisk. For example, with Pizza*3 and Salad on the wheel, Pizza gets three of the four slices, so it has a 3 in 4 (75%) chance. Zero-weight entries and blank lines are excluded.
A random name picker you can share
The result is picked by your browser's secure random number generator, then the wheel spins to it. The same choice can come up twice in a row. Long labels may be shortened on the wheel, but the result shows the full label.
"Copy share link" puts your list in the link itself (the part after the #). The list is not saved by this tool, and anyone with the link can read it.
Frequently asked questions
How many choices do I need?
Enter at least two choices, one per line. Blank lines are ignored. Repeated names are treated as separate choices.
Can I make one choice more likely?
Add a weight after an asterisk, such as Pizza*3. Choices without a weight use 1. Decimal weights work too. Choices with a weight of zero are left out, and weights above 1,000 are capped at 1,000.
Can I remove a choice once it's been picked?
Yes. Check "Remove each choice after it's picked". After every spin, the tool removes the first line with that text. If the same text appears on another line, it can still come up.
What does "Copy share link" include?
It includes your list in the part of the URL after #. Anyone with the link can read the choices, so check the list before sharing personal information.
Will my choices be saved?
No. Reloading the page brings back the lunch example, unless you open a share link containing a list.
