How to use
- Choose a barcode type and replace the example with your content.
- Check the preview. Adjust bar width, height, colors, and the text below the bars.
- Download PNG or SVG. For multiple images, enter one item per line and select "Download ZIP".
- Scan a printed sample to check the content before using it.
Supported barcode formats
This free barcode generator supports UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8, Code 128, and Code 39. ITF and Codabar are not supported by this tool.
Code 128 accepts ASCII characters and selects code sets A, B, and C automatically. Code 39 accepts uppercase A-Z, digits, spaces, and these symbols: - . $ / + %. Its start and stop characters are added automatically.
Check digits
For UPC-A, enter 11 digits to add the check digit or 12 to validate it. EAN-13 accepts 12 or 13 digits; EAN-8 accepts 7 or 8. If the check digit is wrong, you'll see an error that shows the correct one. The tool never changes it for you.
Code 128 includes its check character automatically. For Code 39, the optional Modulo 43 check character is added only when "Add a Modulo 43 check character" is checked.
GS1 company prefixes
If you need a GS1 Company Prefix for your product barcodes, apply to GS1. This tool only draws the image; it doesn't issue or register product numbers. A barcode made here isn't guaranteed to scan or to be accepted by a retailer.
Specifications
Barcodes follow the GS1 General Specifications (EAN and UPC), ISO/IEC 15417 (Code 128), and ISO/IEC 16388 (Code 39). The bars are drawn in your browser; nothing is sent to an outside barcode service.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to enter the check digit?
For UPC-A, EAN-13, and EAN-8, you can enter the digits without the final check digit and let the tool add it. If you enter the full number, the tool validates the final digit.
Can I enter lowercase letters?
Code 128 accepts lowercase letters. For Code 39, turn on "Convert lowercase to uppercase" or enter uppercase letters yourself.
What happens to invalid lines in a batch?
The ZIP contains the valid lines only. The status shows how many lines failed and the first three errors. If no lines are valid, no ZIP is downloaded.
Does this tool register a barcode for my product?
No. It only creates an image from what you enter. If you need a GS1 Company Prefix, apply to GS1. Retailers may have their own requirements, so check with them too.
