How passwords are generated
Passwords are created with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator. Every character has an equal chance of being picked, and each password includes at least one character from every type you select.
Using your password
Match the rules of the site you're signing up for. If it doesn't accept symbols, turn "Symbols" off before you generate. Longer passwords are harder to guess, but no password generator can guarantee that an account stays secure. Use a different password for every account.
Frequently asked questions
Will every password include each character type I select?
Yes. Each password includes at least one character from every selected type.
What does "Exclude look-alike characters" do?
It removes 0, O, 1, l, and I from the available characters. This can make passwords easier to read when you need to type them by hand.
How do I make a strong password?
Use a long, unique password for each account. Check the service's length and symbol rules, and keep the password in a password manager.
Are my passwords saved or uploaded?
The generator creates passwords in your browser and does not save or upload them. The page itself uses Google Analytics and shows ads.
